Sleep Your Way to Skinny!

Hello Reader,

Can you actually lose weight by getting more shuteye? Repeated studies show the answer is yes.

Two studies done at our research center showed that having CFS or fibromyalgia results in an average weight gain of 32 ½ pounds. This happens for many reasons I'll discuss, along with showing you how to lose the weight, in an upcoming newsletter. But this week I want to focus on the role of sleep.

One of the causes of weight gain in fibromyalgia, in fact in the Western world in general, is the inability to get deep sleep.

FMS From Bug Bite in Afghanistan

QUESTION: I was bitten several years ago by some kind of bug while in Afghanistan. Within 24 hours I began feeling the symptoms of fibromyalgia and they've been with me ever since. I feel extremely fatigued even after 9 hours of sleep. Are their specialized treatments I might consider for insect bites (scorpion and female black widow have been ruled out)?

ANSWER: Although it would help to know the specific kind of bug bite, the secondary persistent problems most often seen are either from residual toxins or persistent low-grade infections. See the attached neurotoxin protocol for guidance on removing toxins. For infections, I recommend taking doxycycline for 6 to 12 weeks. It's also worth considering a trial of Cipro, as well as getting a stool test at Genova labs to look for parasites (most other labs do an awful job of parasite testing).
