Couple Drinking Red Wine

Hello Reader,

I've often discussed how some of the foods and drinks we enjoy are often unfairly stigmatised as being bad for us. I've pointed to studies showing that overly restricting salt consumption can be bad for you. That chocolate, eggs and alcohol, in moderation, are good for you. And the same is true for coffee.

Now two more studies find unexpected health benefits from guilty pleasures. As I like to say, Sometimes you can enjoy your vices!

2. Coffee Drinkers Are More Likely To Live Longer. Decaf May Do The Trick, Too

I've written about natural compounds that can help people avoid the diabetes epidemic, including a new herbal called hintonia. Marketed under the brand Sucontral D™, hintonia helps control blood sugar levels and overcome insulin resistance (I discuss this at length in my newest book "Diabetes Is Optional"). A Doctor's Well-Meant Plan

A doctor at an insane asylum decided to take his patients to a baseball game. For weeks in advance, he coached them to respond to his orders, playfully nicknaming them "Nuts."

When the day of the game arrived, everything went well. As the national anthem started, the doctor yelled, "Up Nuts," and the patients jumped to their feet. When the anthem ended, he yelled, "Down Nuts," and they all sat back down.

A home run was hit and the doctor yelled, "Cheer Nuts." They all broke into applause and cheered. The umpire made a bad call and the doctor yelled, "Booooo Nuts," and they all booed and cat called.

Comfortable in their responses, the doctor left for a beer and hot dog, leaving his assistant in charge.

When he returned, there was a riot in progress. "What in the world happened?," he asked his assistant!

"Everything was going just fine," said the assistant, "until a vendor walked by and yelled, 'PEANUTS!'"
