The Mind-Body-Spirit Connection in CFS/FMS

Hello Reader,

Am I Crazy? After dealing with an insane medical system, people with CFS/FMS, and even those with simple day-to-day fatigue, often come away wondering if they're crazy.

The simple answer? NO! At least not any more crazy than anybody else.

We have a bad habit in medicine. If a doctor can't figure out what's wrong with their patient, the doctor brands them a "turkey." Imagine calling an electrician because your lights don't work. After checking all the wiring, he can't find the problem and says, "You're crazy. There's nothing wrong with your lights." You flip the switches and they still don't work, but the electrician just says, "I've looked. There's no problem here," and walks out the door.

This is the same frustrating experience of many CFS/FMS and day-to-day fatigue patients.

With that in mind, in this part 20 of my series "Fatigue & Fibromyalgia Are Optional," I'll summarize a few thoughts on mind-body-spirit considerations in CFS and fibromyalgia.

'Lucid Dying': EEG Backs Near-Death Experience During CPR

Out of Body Experience

Just as hair and nail cells continue to function for weeks after death, EEG research shows brain wave activity persists for an hour after "death." But the awareness associated with this NDE (Near Death Experience) is not centered in the body. But rather is of some space that is experienced as quite beautiful.

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism: The Costs of an Underactive Thyroid

Doctor Examining Patient Thyroid

[Article written by Dr. T published at 30 Seconds Health]

Underactive thyroid function is becoming alarmingly common – and the condition is horribly underdiagnosed. The good news is that once it is diagnosed, it can be very easy to treat in ways that can not only save your life, but also significantly enhance your quality of life.

Diabetes Risk Increased 28% When Exposed to Night Light Pollution

Diabetes

Sleeping in a room exposed to outdoor artificial light at night may increase the risk of developing diabetes, according to a study of nearly 100,000 Chinese adults. Researchers found that "people who lived in areas of China with high light pollution at night were about 28% more likely to develop diabetes than people who lived in the least polluted areas."

Another good argument for wearing an eye mask while sleeping. Other recent research showed that even the small amount of light from a cell phone can markedly worsen sleep quality.
