Flu Season Ahead

Did you know that when a family member catches a respiratory infection, typically only one in six other family members in their household will catch it from them? So there are decent odds that you can avoid getting sick yourself when bugs are spreading, particularly if you make sure to support a healthy immune system. With that in mind, here are five tips to help you dodge infectious bugs this winter season:

  1. Take a high potency multivitamin daily. I currently take the Clinical Essentials® tablets. When the vitamin powder comes back (stay tuned :-) I'll notify you in the newsletter. IMHO, the vitamin powder is the best multivitamin in the world!
  2. Keep a bottle of the supplement ViraPro™ available. I add this whenever I travel, when bugs are spreading, or at first sign of my catching a cold or other kind of bug. It's a mix of elderberry and optimal levels of multiple key immune nutrients. And it is superb!
  3. Stay hydrated. The part of your immune system that has first contact with these winter bugs works best on moist surfaces such as your mouth and nose. And like the Navy, your immune system works poorly in "dry dock."
  4. Get good sleep as best as you can. This can be challenging in CFS/FMS/Long Covid, but my book From Fatigued to Fantastic can guide you in getting your eight hours each night.
  5. Are you the type of person who seems to catch everything, and it takes forever to go away? This leaves me suspecting adrenal fatigue. Especially if you also get irritable when hungry ("hangry"), and even if testing is totally "normal." When I give adrenal support to people, they often come back amazed, saying "This year everybody else got sick but me!" The supplement Adrenaplex® is excellent for adrenal support.

These are very simple ways to help support your immune system, and you'll be amazed at how much they help you sail through this winter season unscathed!

Drinks With My Brother

A man walks into a bar. He orders two shots, drinks them both, and then leaves.

The next day, the man returns, orders another two shots, drinks them both, and then leaves.

He continues to do this for some time, when one day the bartender asks him, “How come you always order exactly two shots?”

The man replies, “Well, you see my brother and I used to go out drinking every night. But he lives across the country now. So every night, I order two drinks. One for myself, and one for my brother.”

Things remain the same for a while until one day the man comes in and orders only one shot. The bartender becomes concerned and asks him “How come you’re only ordering only one shot? Did something happen to your brother? Is he OK?”

The man replies, “No, no. My brother’s fine. I just quit drinking.”
