Dr.Teitelbaum , I was told by my Dr. that I had Fibromyalgia 4 yrs ago after ruling out lupus , sohgrens, ms. I also have 4'stage differentiated thyroid cancer in remission. I had cancer surgery in 1980 and a reoccurance 6 yr ago , developed fibromyalgia shortly after. I was put on Amytriptaline 15 mgs , it helped somewhat but I did research on my own, regarding b-12 and had to beg for months to finally get it and what a difference it made, now I am having trouble again, you would thinlk I was asking for narcotics , how do I get them to listen to me? I go to a teaching Hospital in Boston . Even my rheumatologist said I don't need it, but I know how I feel when I take it intramuscular rather than ingesting. I am suffering needlessly because they don't go beyond what they learned in Medical School ,even my endocrinologist go by the book with my TSH levels, and I feel I am not getting enough synthroid, I am at 112 daily. I wanted to try Armour she said no its unstable! I am tired of being tired and feeling awful most of the time , what can I do to ge t them to listen to me, other than going to new Dr.s which I really want to stay where I am. Why is it so hard to get a water soluble vitamin such as b-12. Do you have any Ideas that could help me ..... Thank you

Answer

Basically, there is nothing you can do to get most doctors to change their mind once you explain what you've said above and they still say no. You can continue to see your doctors for the things they will do, but will do best to then see a holistic physician for your other needs. Otherwise, May as well try to convince someone to change their religion...
