Art By Our Daughter, Brittany
My wife, Laurie, and I have a daughter named Brittany who is an internationally recognized artist. On a whim, Brittany recently decided to put two of her pieces for auction online. Thought it would be fun to share them with you :-)
Brittany makes complex geometric structures from cut and folded paper and plastic. Many of these structures, like these, incorporate light — resulting in beautiful luminous sculptural works. Brittany uses light as a tool to create imaginary space and shadows as a form of transient minimalism.
The sculpture on the left has a walnut base and an internal USB chargeable battery so that it's completely portable. You can see more photos of it at her auction page at Catawiki.
The sculpture on the right is a hanging lamp made from gold and copper mirrored polystyrene on transparent fabric. You can see this at her other auction page at Catawiki.
