Nerves

Many people suffer needlessly from burning, tingling, or shooting nerve pain—often believing it's untreatable. The good news is that while nerve pain can be stubborn, it responds very well to the right combination of natural and prescription therapies.

When working with nerve pain, I first check for underlying nutritional deficiencies that may contribute. Then I address the "brain pain" (microglial activation) that frequently accompanies nerve-related issues.

Here is an easy way to start, by supporting healthy nerve function so they can heal. Give this combination three months, and the benefits by then are often quite dramatic:

  1. Alpha Lipoic Acid: Take 600 mg a day. Any quality brand is okay for this.
  2. Fatigued to Fantastic™ Energy Revitalization Drink Mix: In my opinion, this is the best multivitamin and nutrient drink available, providing over 30 essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids in just one serving per day. It gives your muscles and nerves the essential nutrients they need to heal, energize, and function optimally.
  3. PEA Healthy Inflammation Response: Dozens of studies have demonstrated significant relief from nearly every type of chronic discomfort. Allow 2–3 months for the full effects to appear, since it addresses deep-seated nerve and brain-related pain. Benefits can be seen with as little as 600 mg a day, though key pain experts recommend 1,200 mg daily for the first month, followed by 2,400 mg a day for the next two months. After three months you'll have an idea of how to adjust dosage for optimal benefits.

When treating patients, I incorporate these supplements alongside their existing pain medications, introducing one new supplement every three days. By six weeks, most people begin to notice significant improvement, and by three months, the results are often life-changing. At that point, I leave it up to each individual to decide whether to reduce their pain medications or supplement dosing. About half choose to cut back, while the other half are so relieved to be pain-free that they prefer to continue their regimen as it is.

Neuropathy can be a complex and stubborn condition, but there are many effective treatment options. If you’d like a more in-depth approach, feel free to email me for a free copy of the “Neuropathy” chapter from my book Pain Free 1-2-3. This chapter outlines a structured plan that includes over a dozen prescription and alternative treatments for neuropathy. It can be a valuable resource for both you and your physician.

For those experiencing severe pain in one limb—so intense that even light touch is unbearable—Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) may be the cause. CRPS is one of the most excruciating pain conditions, but the good news is that it is now highly treatable. If you suspect CRPS, email me and I’ll send you a free “CRPS Information Sheet” to help you explore the best treatment options available.
