The current coronavirus (COVID-19) is a very worrisome issue. Unlike MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), coronavirus, and both the Swine and Avian Influenza Viruses — which I predicted would be relatively unimportant when they came about — the severity and ease of transmission of the current coronavirus suggests that this virus can become a major problem. So it would be wise for everyone to take commonsense preventive measures.
The current recommendations, such as using disposable tissues or even the back of your hand to catch sneezes and coughs, and washing your hands for 20 seconds when you've been in public places, are fairly reasonable. But they are the tip of the iceberg of what you can do to protect yourself.
Let's review a few especially important tips.
How to Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer
Though washing your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds is generally recommended over hand sanitizers, sometimes you're out and about without access to soap. In that case, having a small hand sanitizer can come in handy. Unfortunatley you may have already discovered that most stores are sold out. Well here's a formula for making your own.
