Aspirin's Risks Outweigh Benefits in Preventing Heart Disease

UK researchers analyzed nine studies involving more than 100,000 patients and found that taking a daily aspirin to prevent heart disease increased the risk of serious stomach bleeds by 30% — but only decreased the risk of heart attacks by 10%. In other words, aspirin did a lot more harm than good. The researchers' conclusion: routine use of aspirin to prevent heart attacks isn't justified.

Sugar Worsens NMH and POTS

Autonomic dysfunction, manifesting as fast heart rate when standing (POTS) and a drop in blood pressure with exercise (NMH) contribute significantly to the post exertional exhaustion seen in CFS. In this study, 15 healthy male subjects (21-28 years of age) drank water or 10% glucose water (similar to a can of soda) 5 minutes before tilt-table testing. Water helped decrease abnormalities on tilt-table testing, but drinking the sugar water markedly worsened function on tilt-table testing.
