Inflammatory bowel disease has been shown to be associated with muscle and joint pain, including fibromyalgia, in one quarter of people who have Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. In my experience, both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease both are helped by addressing bowel infections and food allergies. As a fringe benefit, the joint and muscle pains often decrease along with the bowel inflammation.

More Help for Insomnia

Published: September 28, 2012

Insomnia is a major problem—especially for those with CFS and fibromyalgia. The sleeping problem is often triggered by your sleep center (the hypothalamus) not working. When this happens, it can cause your adrenal stress hormone to be low during the day (when it should be high), and high at night (when it should be low so you can sleep). This can cause you to feel "brain foggy" all day—and wide awake with a racing mind when it's bedtime.
