Can't Nap? Switch to a Hammock!
Ever find that you can't fall asleep in the afternoon on a bed — but fall asleep ever-so-quickly on a hammock? Now researchers know why.
A team of researchers at the University of Geneva studied 11 people napping on a stationary bed or in a rocking hammock. To their surprise, the folks in the hammock not only fell asleep faster than the folks on the regular bed — the rocking motion also induced the brain waves of stage N2 sleep, a type of deep sleep that typically occupies about half of a good night's sleep.
Bottom line: If you get a chance to snooze in a hammock, go for it!
