Keto Diet

In a small study of 44 people with daytime sleepiness from narcolepsy, a keto diet along with some exercise was found to be very effective for improving nighttime sleep and daytime sleepiness.

Narcolepsy is one of the many conditions that can feed into fibromyalgia, and components may be present even with normal testing. And most people with fibromyalgia don't get tested for narcolepsy, so it's often missed.

Keto diets can be very challenging, but worth trying for people with CFS, fibromyalgia, or long Covid. Going on a gluten and dairy free diet for three to six weeks may also help.

If the keto diet is too difficult, a low carbohydrate high-protein diet may be helpful.

In two of our in-house studies, the average weight gain in fibromyalgia and CFS was 32 ½ pounds, which shows just how severe the metabolic changes are in these conditions. But this also gives a clue as to when it’s more important to try keto or low carbohydrate diets. This would be when either:

  1. You fall asleep easily during the day, or
  2. You had severe weight gain from your CFS/fibromyalgia

This is one more treatment option to help you improve. And this one without any pills :-)
