Thyroid Disease and Infertility

In this Spanish study, 119 women were prospectively included: 32 egg donors donors, 31 patients with Unexplained Infertility (UI), 26 with IF (Implantation Failure) and 30 with RSA (Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion—i.e., recurrent miscarriages). The prevalence of thyroid autoimmunity in women with IF (anti-TPO antibodies, P = 0.009) and UI (anti-TPO, P = 0.002) was significantly increased in comparison to those with RSA. There was also a trend towards a higher prevalence of thyroid autoimmunity in the UI and IF groups than in the control group. TSH and free thyroxine levels all remained within a normal range.

Does Stress Determine Who Will Develop CFS After an Infection?

We know that many common infections can trigger CFS in those who are predisposed. This study showed that those with a high level of pre-existing severe psychological stress in the year before a new parvovirus infection were 25.7 times more likely to develop CFS after the infection.This goes along with what we have said for years that it is infection in the face of overwhelming stress that makes people blow a fuse. Other stresses, including poor sleep, poor nutrition, other infections, autoimmune illness, etc. also can be the stresses that result in otherwise benign infections becoming CFS.

B12 Shots May Fight Infections

The doctors studied 250 of their patients who had suffered a “brain aneurysm” — a weakened or burst blood vessel in the brain that can cause a stroke. (Strokes have two causes: a clogged artery, which accounts for 83% of strokes; or a burst blood vessel, which accounts for 17%.) Looking for factors that triggered the aneurysms, they found eight that were mainly responsible.
